A B O U T

India Stachyra ("Sta-KEE-ra"), she/her/hers, is an interdisciplinary theatre artist and admininistrator based in NYC. Her academic and theatre education includes Sarah Lawrence College (BA - Theatre, French, Psychology, Literature), British American Drama Academy (London Theatre Program, Year-Long Advanced) and HB Studio in New York. Her written and directorial work has been seen at Sarah Lawrence College, HERE Arts Center, The Sheen Center, Balance Arts Center and The Players Theatre.


In addition to her artistic endeavors, India has employed both her creative and organizational talents in positions like her current roles as Social Media Coordinator at City College of New York and Marketing Coordinator at Underground Skills Exchange, and previously as Marketing Coordinator at CO/LAB Theater Group and the off-Broadway run of Mas Que Un Pétalo, Executive Assistant at Theatre Communications Group (TCG), Artistic Programming Apprentice at The New Victory Theater/New 42, and Administrative Intern at Tectonic Theater Project.


India is the founder and producer of Soundscape Theater, a platform for new 3-10 minute immersive audio plays by emerging writers.

Fun facts about India:

Her favorite actresses are Ingrid Bergman, Lauren Bacall, Katharine Hepburn, Liv Ullmann and Deborah Kerr.

She collects old Broadway Playbills from the 1950s through 1970s.

She loves making collages from the pages of Architectural Digest.

She taught herself to play the piano and guitar (by ear!)

In her spare time, she loves to paint and doodle while listening to showtunes. 

She's seen over 50 shows on Broadway.

When she was 10 years old, she wrote an entire "album" on Garageband and distributed it to her family on CDs.

She wants to learn Polish to honor her Polskie heritage!
